Whenever I process a collection, my hope is to find something fun and completely unexpected. A letter from George and Helen Seldes’s cat, Henry, would definitely fit that criterion. Journalist, author, press critic and publisher, George and his wife Helen spent the winter of 1962 in Spain. They honeymooned in Spain and would often return for long visits throughout their marriage. George’s cousin, Judith Randorf, agreed to look after their cat, Henry. Judith wrote a letter from Henry, signed with a paw print, to reassure George and Helen that Henry was settling in to his temporary digs but missed his Mom and Pop. Judith developed quite the bond with Henry and wrote him several notes after he returned home. These notes are found in box 5 folder 15 in the George Seldes papers, Ms. Coll. 1140
